Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Diode Dynamics SS5 Sport LED Spot Pod Light. Now, this five-inch LED spot pod light is going to act as an auxiliary high beam and increase your visibility to keep you safe. As you can see, I do have this connected to my power source already. And what you're seeing here is the backlight feature, and this has a selectable backlight, which is gonna allow you to choose and go through eight different color options. So I'm gonna go ahead and turn my studio lights off here and zoom out back to my wide view.
Now, this is going to be easier to do when you have this installed with a switch, but I don't have a switch, so I'm just gonna try to manually switch through these colors. So I'm just gonna cycle through there so you can start to see those different color options. So this will offer you a blue, red, teal, amber, green, purple, and yellow, and white color. So just kind of went through some of the options there. And I think it looks like I'm on white.
Lemme go ahead and I'm gonna throw a picture up there on the screen there just to give you a better representation of what this light does offer in case there was one color that I missed. This backlight is going to be perfect for giving you that extra styling accent to your vehicle or for more visibility when you're not using the main beam. And so going back to my wide view here and looking at our light, I wanted to show you and give you a view of the main beam as well. So there's the main beam, and then there's the backlight again, so you immediately see the difference between the intensity there. So I'm gonna shine this on the wall behind me just to give you a good look at that beam.
This spot beam pattern is going to do a great job of lighting up objects off in the distance up to about half a mile away. And the slide has a color temperature of 6,000 kelvin. So that cool white color is going to match most of your factory LED lights. And this light has a raw lumen rating of 4,800 lumens and a measured lumen rating of 3,800 lumens. So turning on my studio lights again, even with my bright lights on, you can still see that.
So lemme go ahead and give you another close up view of this light. Now, this light has a peak beam intensity of 406,100 candela. And in case you don't know, candela ratings measure the directional light output, and it's how anything is rated where you want light shining in a specific direction. Lumen ratings are just for omnidirectional output, like your regular light bulbs where you want light to shine in all directions. But for a more detailed description of these ratings, you can visit this product page on our website, or Diode Dynamics provides additional information that you can find. Now, the power draw on that main beam is 2.75 amps, and on the back light it's 0.25 amps. And this light has been designed with the newer technology known as custom TIR optics. TIR stands for total internal reflection. So unlike the older technology that uses reflectors or simple projector lenses, which aren't real efficient at focusing all the light where you want it, this custom designed large TIR optic actually collects and then focuses all of that light forward very efficiently. And then instead of having another external lens, certain lens patterns have been molded directly into this lens surface. So that's gonna prevent the normal efficiency loss that you see with an outside lens. As you might know, when you shine light through any type of glass or plastic, you could lose up to 10% of that light just from it shining through. So by making it as a part of this lens, you're actually gonna pick up some efficiency rather than losing it. Now, turning this light around, we do have an industry standard integrated Deutsch style connector. I do have another one of those pigtails here with that connector just to show you. So that's gonna plug right into that light very securely. And as you can see here, we also have two breather patches here that's gonna prevent any moisture buildup in the light. Then we have these heat sinks on the back of the housing that are gonna do a great job of dissipating heat quickly to increase the longevity of this light. Now, this light has been built with high intensity LED chips. It does have a durable powder-coated aluminum construction. That heavy duty construction's gonna do a great job of withstanding extreme temperatures, corrosion, vibration. Testing has been completed to SAE standards, just like your factory lighting components. And an interesting fact is Diode Dynamics actually designed and engineered and assembled this light right down the highway from us at their headquarters here in the greater St. Louis area. Let's talk measurements. The overall width from end to end, we're sitting really close to 5 1/8 inches wide. That's gonna be the same measurement for the height as well. And then looking at the depth from the front of the light all the way to the end of our heat sinks, we're sitting pretty close to 2 3/4 inches deep.
